Timing a c123

I'm rebuilding a farmall 100 that was taken apart 20 years ago so far so good new fire crater pistons and liners installed, head torqued. The problem is with the governor gear in it wouldn't turn over so I did the rebuild after pulling it out the problem I'm having is trying to locate timing marks so I can reinstall it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Single dots go together and same with double dots. So when you see the two dots on the cam gear they align with the two on the mag gear. Now if you have had the front cover off and removed the cam and didnt align the single dot with the single dot on the crank gear you have a problem.

no didn't disturb the cam gear, no marks on the governor gear so that is actually what I need to position I the correct sequence, thank you for your fast response.

Timing for a distributor is much easier than timing for a mag. On a mag all the dots have to line up on reassembly. With a distributor, crank the number one piston to top of compression stroke. TDC both valves closed. Take the distributor and turn the rotor to the number 1 position on the cap. Install the governor with the distributor drive. Install distributor keeping the rotor in the number one position. Fine tune timing.

Those tractors ARE way different than an H or an M.

On an H or M, the governor is on the left side of the engine driven separately from the ignition. On an A/B/C engine the governor is on the right hand side of the engine and the distributor/magneto is driven off the governor.

The governor needs to be properly timed, meaning the timing marks line up, for a magneto. This is not necessary for a distributor, but it doesn't hurt to have things properly timed.
