400 cat engine swap?

I am just wondering if anyone has ever taken a caterpillar diesel and swapped in place of the old 400 diesel engine? I realize this would be expensive and I'm not asking costs I'm just asking if anyone has done it can you tell me about it please?
 
Not sure of the owner's name, but there's a 450 around the north east Indiana area with an early Cummins four cylinders engine. Have seen it at some shows, not the 4B Cummins either..
 
I don't see why not. there have been all sorts of engines transplanted into those old farmalls. from 350C chevy,390 Ford,7.3 powerstroke.....just about any diesel out there.I myself am 'trying' to put an old GMC 305 V6 into an M.
 
Can't remember if seen in Virginia or North Carolina some fellow had one in a similar chassis. Think there's a picture of one in a Farmall on YT somewhere but couldn't find it. On a 400 with IPTO the pressure plate drives the PTO, so that would need considered in the clutch flywheel setup.
 
There was a M, with a Allis-Chalmers 301 diesel sold at a auction in southern Minnesota, about the same time as when the Des Moines convention was going on! Seen a picture of it,on the sale bill, at least it had the hood on it,LOL.
