How tight should the springs be on the two lower bolts on the radiator? And Iam wondering how important those cotter keys are that will be a problem to line those up up in that cornor.? thanks

i just tighten them snug till the springs have a bit of space between coils. ya cotter pins are a pain but probably wont hurt if they are left out.

If it has the original studs, getting a couple of 7/16 fine thread self locking nuts makes things easier especially if you need to remove again sometime.

I had to make some new studs for 1 of our M's. I didn't drill holes for cotter pins or use castle nuts. I used locknuts instead. Tightened them up snug. Used old springs and they compressed pretty much all the way.
