656 hydraulic valve ID

I presently have a single remote valve on my 656. It is the red one in the pictures. Both of the white valves in the pictures came with the 656, and were mounted on the fender to control a loader. I want to stack the red one and one of the white ones so I have 2 rear remotes.

Each of the valves is a little different, although they are all the same vintage. The bolt holes and orifices all line up. Why are the rear cylinder sleeves different lengths? Why is there a plug above the actuator on one of the white ones? Can I use one of them in combination with the original, red one?

Thanks for any advice you all can give me!

Look under 2656 tractor on the CASEIH online parts catalog. It shows those valves. The short tube one is a three position valve. No float and no detent. The plug in the other valve is a cushion relief valve. I presume for shock loads for heavy loader work. I would say to use that valve. I looked too quick and didn't even check to see if that valve has detent and float but I THINK it does with the long tube.

Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you Pete. You are a great resource.
