the armature spins and the magnets then make the spark into the coil then is stored in the capacitor and discharges when the points close

Rotating magnet produces a current in the primary winding which flows to ground through the points. When the points open the magnetic field collapses and the secondary windings produce a high voltage which fires the plugs. Condenser helps to make the coil ring like a bell thus producing many sparks which we see as one. Keeps the points from burning from the back EMF of the coil. Clear as mud?

The armature in the generator cutting through the magnetic field of the generator. This voltage is sent to the coil?

The generator and magneto are not connected. The magneto produces its own electricity. You can remove the generator completely and the magneto will still work.

Not yet, have new points, condenser, cap and copper wires to install tomorrow. Haven't bought a new coil yet. Can't find any info on how the J4 works.
The coil is stationary, nothing rotating through a magnetic field to induce voltage. Should the coil maintain a magnetic charge?

If nothing is rotating then the magneto is broken internally, and no wonder it's not making a spark.

The COIL does not need to be charged, and does not maintain any magnetism. The magnet is magnetized.

Don, if you will send an email to me at [email protected] I have an ignition course I downloaded several years ago from a technical school in India that covers distributors and magnetos. It is very good, except for not fully explaining the function of condensers, it just kind of glosses over them.
