Serial number

I inhereted a Farmall Super A (I think!). The serial number under the seat appears to read "292333" and 1540. I am fairly sure that 1540 is the max idle rpm, but I'm not sure of the other number. Could it be the model number? If so, what kind of tractor do I have??? Lol!

The tractor ran two years ago, but has not been started since, unfortunately. I'm looking forward to cleaning it up, servicing the machine and painting it over the next year.

It would appear to be a 1950 model year.

1540rpm is max idle speed.

Its not a bad idea to try to start it right off but a carb cleaning may be in order.

Many thanks Matt. I have looked all around the internet for that serial number with no success.

I pulled the carb and waiting on the rebuild kit to arrive. The fuel line was rotten and the gas tank was FULL of rust debris.

You will never find an exact serial number. What you WILL find is the first serial number of any given year, and the first serial number of the NEXT model year. If your serial number is greater than the first number, but less than the next, then your tractor was built in that year.
