One could easily be made using a piece of all thread, forging out the end and drilling a hole or else welding on an eye.

Just about to draw that conclusion. Had to forge a pipe/drill hole for one brace already, the adjustable one will probably be the same.

Can find a source for all thread, but no source for an eye.

thanks

I think I will weld a stack of heavy washers, trim flat on one side, then weld to the threaded rod. Unless someone pipes up with a better idea or an old piece.

If you have access to some junk farm machinery, scrounge through it. The "eye" that you are looking for is probably in there somewhere. I found such a piece in my undesignated inventory pile just a few days ago, but I used it already.

Absent any other options, I'd take a piece of threaded rod the right size, heat the end red hot with a torch, hammer it to the right configuration, and drill a hole in it.
