live hydraulics mcCormick w9

Think you are limited to used. For W-9 engine serial number 31813 or higher a pump from any fuel 9 tractor to 650 tractor as long as pump drive gear matches your ignition drive gear. Also gas start diesel tractors SMD, SMTAD, 400D and 450D if you add your ignition drive gear to pump shaft. If below the serial number a M&W pump for before front engine covers were changed is needed unless already changed. Or a pump that mounts to ignition drive housing on ignition unit end and turns the correct direction.

Let me know if you can use a stock 9 pump. The local boneyard has a few 9s and they aren't very picked over.

Mines below that serial number and don't think engine cover has been changed so looks like I'd need an m&w pump. If I were to change engine cover at some point what one are they getting replaced with? Thanks

It'd have to be off one pre 1948 by the looks of it if
they were to have one. Where abouts this yard
located? Thanks

With front covers from gas tractors after that serial number, also the plate behind cover. If I remember correct cover will have 6 numbers before the R suffix and yours probably has 4 numbers before suffix letters. Bolt pattern to mount a pump or ignition drive was changed is the difference. Also seem to remember M&W made two different pumps for those tractors. One for below mount pattern change and one after. Also think pump or ignition drive gear numbers changed about that time but can't remember for what. May be getting gas and diesel mixed up. Need to check my memory out on the info.

Why are you wanting to put live hyd's on your 9? If your answer is to have & for show I cant help you out. If its not a show tractor & will be using hyd's with a purpose I have an idea that's a lot cheaper & quicker. Run it off the end of the crankshaft. My Dad did that to his SW6, its been on there since the 70's. By the time 2000's came around it was time for an overhaul of the system which I did. Since photobucket took my pictures I don't know how else to load them. I can send you pictures thou.

(quoted from post at 18:37:33 08/17/17) Got a buddy looking for a complete running engine for a W9 if your boneyard has one. Thanks.

I think there were all diesel. The heads disappeared fast on those.
