I have bought a 404 international without power steering. just wondered what I would have to do to put power steering on it. thanks norm

I have a very similar 424. A P.O. installed a flow divider after the engine-driven hyd. pump and a CharLynn torque generator in the steering shaft behind the starter.

It works, but not as well as an OEM hydrostatic P. S. system.

To install the OEM system, the front axle and upper bolster have to be swapped for a setup from a P. S. tractor, and there's quite a bit of plumbing that goes with all that, from the steering "pump", to the steering valve, to the steering cylinders.

Bob is spot on. Would need front axle w/cylinder and bolster, steering shaft, orbital motor, priority valve, oil cooler,etc...

However, I wonder if there would be room to add a belt driven pump and inline Charlynn unit to the shaft as many do to M's.
