W-30 Clutch Pilot Brg.....

Would anyone have the number for this bearing so I can get it local? I lost my "slide hammer" attachment so may have to cut it out. Thanks.
 
If it is just a bushing, you might try pumping the are behind it full of gun grease, and driving a tight fitting shaft, or an appropriate sized socket, on an extension into the hole, to force the old bushing out. I've done it on old car engines.
 
You will not saw a roller bearing. Use the slide hammer. Take a nut that threads on the slide hammer and weld a nut to it that fits a bolt who's head can be ground off on one side to slip at an angle into the ID of the bearing. Wedge that bolt sideways to keep it to the side that is now a "hook" Pull it out. Jim
 
Not sure what you mean, Jim, on the first part. I have cut/and do cut many roller bearings our/off with my torch; Id rather not incase I need the number. Im going into the city tomorrow for something to do for half the day- I will check the "jobber" stores for the correct jaw attachment for my slide hammer...doesn't have a brand name on it. If not, I will take your advice on making a puller for the bearing- never thought of that! Thanks!

There is actually a felt wick in the crank shaft to oil that bearing, you should be able to pull it out carefully and then use a long skinny punch to drive the bearing out. I replaced mine with sealed bearing
 
Okay....lets see if we are all talking about the same bearing: it is the sealed-bearing in the "flywheel".....the clutch pilot shaft goes into. It needs changed....cannot drive out with a punch; I know how to take it out but was asking for a "number" of this sealed be3aring incase I use the torch to remove it; I will just buy a jaw attachment for my puller/ or make one - and take it out. Thanks..

Took Jims advice and removed the roller bearing with slide hammer; thanks! Question- it has one shield on one side...thus a 208 brg; local parts house has a "205"...same but shield on each side. I think I will use this one as the wick in the crank has oil on it but wasn't getting in the backside of the brg- thus it was dry and rough. Is this ok?
 
I thought you were talking about a die grinder or saw. Removing them with a torch sure does work as does an EDM. Jim

Yep, same one..10701DA or ST208... this bearing, sealed on one side to prevent oil leaking on the clutch, oiled by a felt wick drilled through the crank. A new wick would oil that bearing as IH intended. It can be driven out from the backside through that hole. Under no circumstances would I use a cutting torch to remove a bearing from inside an induction hardened crankshaft. Glad you found your puller
