IH mower/brush hog

I have a 111 IH brush hog and wonder how old it is. Gear box is solid but metal box is going to heck. Bangs on blade but I pulled that away for more room. Looks older than heck. Might need a newer one if the box gets worse. Thanks for any ideas how old it is.

Condition matters more than age. If there is rusted or stress cracked metal in the deck and edging, it is dangerous. If you were able to bend it with modest force it is not acceptable. Two choices Replace it and sell the good drive system on Ebay. or have metal welded into the deck to structurally reinforce it. 12 gauge metal bent to shape and welded with MIG process in skip weld then fill in is a solution.
A mower deck is intended to shield the operator, and houses 100 yards away, from flying debris. Weak sides become part of the shrapnel. Jim

Should be from the early 70's, had a real nice one, sold it, sad I did. Best easiest cutting mower I have ever had
