So what model is this mower

I've had this mower for several years now
and I'm still not certain on which model it
actually is. It's 7', fast hitch, belt
driven ... But I can't find a tag on it. I
may have some follow up questions also...
Thanks

Looks like the model 100 balanced mower dad had. His also had the extra PTO drive extension and hitch for the New Idea pull type hay conditioner to be pulled behind. Used that a lot until he bought the first Hesston 9 foot mower-conditioner.

I can check when i go to the shop this morning. I have the same one, just replaced fast hitch with 3 point many years ago.

Thank you for the replies. One major problem when using this mower is that the bar doesn't raise very far above the ground so it can be hard to back out of a plug of grass. Can a cylinder be put on to make it raise higher?

Try lowering the mower completely, and then shorten the chain some. I have a similar mower with a 9 foot bar, shortening the chain helped if I recall. Been awhile since I last used it.

I can't tell for sure from your picture, but I think you don't have the chain connected properly. The chain that lifts the cutter bar should connect below the hydraulic cylinder. It uses 2 pieces of strap iron parallel at the end of the chain and they connect to a small hole under the cylinder with a pin thru. Then on the right fast hitch prong should be a chain that controls the height. It should hold the mower where the pto shaft is level. When it stops the mower from lowering any further the bottom of the lift cylinder will raise itself off its rest.As you raise the mower the cylinder will travel downward and pull the chain that is attached there tight, and raise the cutter bar about a foot above horizontal.I grew up using this type of mower, and own one today.Mark

Thanks for the info Mark. I have other pictures of the mower but they don't show the chains very well either. I'll check it out when I get home from the road in a couple days...I may have more questions.. Thanks guys

This shows the mower in the raised position. The end of the bar that's off the side of the picture is about 3' up. It could be set to raise even higher, but I mow some ditches where I need down movement of the bar too and chained up this way it allows it.

t-Evan350"could you please get another photo like the first that would show where the top of the left chain attaches? I've got large socket 40 and 60 series tractors and a small point fast-hitch model 1200 mower. I know I can add the spacers but am not sure how it connects either. The photos you showed have helped. If I could get some spacers and try it, I would look to sell it.

Thanks in advance.
