Want to buy a new-used tractor

I have a 1959 International Cub Lo-Boy with a 59" mowing deck, and a 1954 Farmall Super C towing a 72" finishing mower for finish mowing about 8 acres of grass around the buildings and along our driveway and around the edges of our fields on our grain farm in Missouri. After using this system for 25 or 30 years, along with all the machines breaking down and wearing out, we have decided to purchase something newer for grass mowing so we can restore these old machines for show, or something. So, my question is, what would be a more modern used tractor that is reasonably stable on the hills we have here in Missouri and pull my 72" finishing mower. Something in maybe the 30 to 40 horsepower range and low to the ground?

what I would do is find a 300u or 350u and completely restore it and you'd be good for 30 - 50 years and cost less and better built than a newer tractor

I never heard of a 300u or 350u? They must be pretty rare? I have seen regular tricycle gear 300's and 350's around here. They are in the right horsepower range that I am looking for, but I am looking for a lower center of gravity machine. And both of those are still in the Fast-Hitch era that my Super C is and I was looking more for a three point hitch tractor. I built a three point hitch conversion for my Super C, but I want something I don't have to reinvent so that I can just hitch up that finishing mower and go mow. So, where might I see pictures of a 300u and 350u and how might I find one?

1960's or newer Ford, Massey-Ferguson, Deere and IH were all pretty good utility tractors. In the Midwest most utility tractors were loader tractors on livestock farms, where they were used hard. If you can find any, look for a tractor that wasn't used under a loader. Beware of fresh paint on a used tractor.

I'm no expert but a 300 and 350u is the utility version of those tractors. They are lower to the ground and I think some had a 3pt. I don't remember seeing any around here either. I agree they are in the same era as what you have. Instead of buying one of those you may as well fix what you have and keep using them.

(quoted from post at 11:10:58 08/11/17) Find a good 444 International, you are already familiar with the brand, good solid tractor
--------------------------------------------------------------

The following is a list of IH and CIH models in the 35 - 40 HP utility class to choose from.
B275, B414, 404, 504, 424, 444, 364, 384, 385, 495, 3210. I am only going up to 2000 but models newer than 2000 are also available at increasing cost. These are all 3 pt hitch tractors with good steering systems and good parts availability.

Thanks for your list George 3. This has helped me look through advertisements for these models. I called about one on the list last night but it had sold already. So, it might take awhile to find anything suitable. Unfortunately I am probably going to have to fix these old tractors we have so we can get back to mowing grass. Where can I get a good starter for a Farmall Super C?
