Carb jet removal

I'm pretty sure I have a zenith 62 carb, I
went to replace the economizer jet ? And
the well vent jet and realized the last guy
tore the screw head up and now I can't get
them out? Are these a must to change or
can i just hit with cleaner and blow them
out and let them be? If they have to come
out any ideas how since the slot is chewed
up?

Grind two screw driver bits to fit the screw slots. Boil both carb parts so the cast iron expands, Put screw driver bits in drill press, set up each cast iron piece with something holding the piece under the blade. Bring down quill with bit in chuck. put some pressure on quill handle so that screwdriver bit fits in hole and try turning the chuck by hand. Quite often the nozzles will unscrew. If not, keep cast iron piece hot and use a small a small easy out, but don't drive it in so as to expand the jet body. easy out. These can also be drilled out if you are careful, retap the hole and screw in new jet. Most times people use any old screw driver and destroy the slot in the jet.

I don't really understand what your saying to do with the screw driver... there is almost zero slot left so do I push something into the center of the jet, like the hole and hope the down pressure turns it out?

If the well vent jet hole isn't damaged, can it stay in there even if the screw head is damaged??

the drill press idea probably will work, if the screw slot strips out too much then take a screw tip that would have been the right size grind it sharp like a chisel, harden the tip and use the press to spike it into the brass fitting then turn out by hand while keeping pressure on the tip

Heat it with a acetylene torch until the flame shows green. Let it cool & it will be loose & easy to get out.
