The 400 fast hitch saga continues....

I've got a buddy that lives in the opposite direction of my regular paths by about 20 miles, no big trip but sometimes you only have so much time. He owns a 450 with fast hitch so I finally went out and looked his over to see what kind of condition mine is in. Sure wish I had done that before I started putting $$ into my own set up! His is like new and has very little slop! I've now got a couple hundred into my pile of junk and am not sure I will ever get mine as sound as his. Guess that's the fun of this hobby and how a guy learns.... I'd still rather spend money on Farmalls than golf!

Yeah, frustrating when it happens like that. But it's fun isn't it? Well sometimes until it happens just when you're starting in the field and don't have an extra day to spare. :)

I purchased a new used sway limiter assembly, both the housing and the shaft. My old one looks really worn. And also my 400 had no control valve when I bought it so picked up a used one on Ebay. I just got my parts yesterday. When I get them installed I will know if there is more work/parts needed. The fun never stops!

Unless you club your friend in the head and steal his fast hitch you are not going to find one in that good of shape any time soon, so your efforts to fix what you've got are not wasted.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I want to clarify that it is a CHECK valve not a control valve. Typing at 5;30 am before work gets your terminology mixed up sometimes. I am not so foolish to look at $$ spent on repairs as an investment, the pleasure of having a fully functional tractor is worth it. I just really enjoy working on these blasts from my past!
