New tractor

I'm back. want to tell about my 'new' tractor. A 1456 Farmall. It's rough,has some transmission shifting issues.It's ugly,but runs good.It's currently in the shop 'torn apart'. tell more later.

Have owned IH 1456 since 1981.....traded Blackstripe 966....got 1456 plus 6bt Oliver semi-mount plow. Needed more power on chopper and could not afford new. BEST trade I've ever made ! I lost 5 yrs and 1500 hrs but gained hp needed.

1456 in original condition..never repainted...crank shaft never touched..have slipped bearings in and new rings. Between 12 and 13 thou. hrs on now [Tach was out for couple of years] Torque replaced ONCE and clutch at same time.

I had a 1456, i bought it used,from a neighbor down the road 3 miles had it, it was in excellent shape, but he always ordered his tractors with big rice tires on it, with short axles.. well the only thing that would dual up with it was a 18.4 x38 deep tread, but had to put the univerferth axles extensions on it, but couldn't keep the clamps tight on the stub axles. Other than that it was good!
