What model of IH hay rake is this?

Anyone know what model number of IH side delivery rake this is? I'm new to the haying biz. Have a small hobby farm and put up 10 acres of grass for our horses. I'm having a heckuva time getting it to roll shorter hay from second cuttings. Just lifts and drops the grass. Works great on first cut with thicker, longer grass. Not worth a darn on shorter grass. The long, U-shaped bar that adjusts the basket up or down to change the pitch of the teeth - if I raise it, will that help pick up the shorter grass?

Well other then the color it looks just like the one I use and I have no clue what model it is. I have mine set so the teeth hit the dirt and never have had any problems with thin hay as long as I keep all the teeth on it. Been slowly switching over o NH clips and teeth since they are a heavier duty tooth

Looks like an IH 35 hay rake.

Can't help you with picking up hay. Our New Hollands haven't been raised or lowered or adjusted in years, and they pick up everything from the thickest first cutting to barely-there third cutting. The teeth are nowhere near the ground. Just go to the field, put them in gear, and rake.

How much stubble do you leave? If you mow it right off at ground level that could be your problem.

How tall is this "thin" hay you're trying to make? If it's thin enough no rake will pick it up.

We always adjusted ours on a flat surface so you could just stick the toe of your shoe under it. Without it running of course!!! Seems to rake up any type of hay without leaving any.

Thanks everyone for your help with this. Doesn't seem like anyone else has the issues I'm running into with raking shorter grass on my second cutting. I'll play around with the basket adjustment to tilt it so the top is back and the bottom a little forward. That way the teeth may throw the grass forward to get it rolling after I take my second cutting of shorter grass. Not sure what else to try, but it definitely doesn't work on shorter grass as currently set up when I bought it. Thanks again for the help! I love this site.
