Farmall 450 Cylinder Not Hitting

Having some issues with my 450 gas.
It no longer sputters out and dies,
but is obviously not running at full
power. When I pulled off the #2 plug
wire off, it kept running the same.
When I pulled off the #1 wire, I got
shocked by the electricity, so I'm
thinking that might be the source of
the problem. Thoughts?

Put the #1 plug wire into the #2 position and see if #2 fires. If it does the plug wire is bad. If it does not then it could be a bad cap or the distributor bushing has wear in such a way the cam does not open the points like it needs to. By the way just because you get shocked by one plug wire does not mean the other wire it bad but checking it will not hurt. Matter of fact I would check that tyou have a good blue/white spark at the center wire of the distributor cap and at all 4 plug wires

Another thought would be to put a timing light on the wire and see if you have a spark at all going thru the line. Do that on all wires. Just an idea. That is the main reason for me getting a timing light at one of the online auctions here.

You can achieve the same thing by putting a spare good spark plug into the end of the wire and holding the threaded part against the block while the engine is running, or being cranked over.

If that plug fires, put it in the #2 hole and see if that helps.
