1960 Cub negative ground

My cub is negative ground. My other 5 farmalls are positive ground. I'd like to switch the cub to positive ground so I avoid confusion of remembering which is + or - Do I have to do any more than get a positive ground VR? And change the cables over obviously. a Cub has a generator. Thanks

You probably already have a positive ground VR, as that was the way the tractor was originally built. Turn the battery around and polarize the generator. Check to see if the leads need to be reversed on the ammeter.

I will add to gene's info that you might not need to buy a regulator. Some are not sensitive to polarity. With out starting it, turn the battery around and connect it
to ground first. Then remove the big wire going to the starter from the starter relay at the starter and keep it from touching metal. Now attach the negative cable at
the battery. Next: carefully touch the cable at the starter relay (where you removed it) to the terminal of the smaller wire connected there. If sparking happens,
STOP. You will need a regulator as Gene noted. If no spark, attach the cable to the relay and polarize the generator. ___Do Not Start it___. Use a piece of stiff
copper wire to jump from the Bat terminal of the regulator,to the Arm terminal. It will spark and should. This should be done twice or three times for one second
each. This polarizes the iron cores of the generator. (actually switches their north south magnetic polarity). Now you can start it to see if it worked. (the amp
gauge will read backwards because you have not changed it to match the new polarity) If it now shows discharge, it is working. two more things. Reverse the amp gauge
wiring so it works correctly, and make sure the coil positive small terminal is connected to the distributor. (it may be already) Jim
