How bad of shape is to bad . Found one the guy said the clutch went out 40 years ago in that spot . Sat outside ,tires are flat rims all look good , block and head don't show any cracks. It looks complete . I'm looking for something different to work on . Even if it's just too organize for a parts tractor . I need a new phone so I can get pictures I know . But some I've seen on here and facebook look ruffer than this one .

Your pocketbook is what determines "how far gone is too far". F20 parts are pretty available. All you need is time and money. You need to decide. F20's are also not rare unless it is a unique model.

they are easy to work on for the most part (the fly wheel can be a bugger to get off), and are a great F series tractor.

I know I didn't answer your question fully, but it is hard without seeing pictures.

How dose one tell if it's a fairway ? Looks normal to me . The only fairway I've seen was in antique power and was on wide steel wheels . This one is on f&h wheels with rubber . Narrow tread rear end .

it either is stamped with an F at the end of the serial number or stamped FAIRWAY.....I cant remember.

Well.. I am biased, but I would pick it up if it was me! A narrow tread is desirable since I have two wide treads. I paid $240 for my '38 (with 28" round spokes, stuck motor, lift-all pump, PTO extension and comfort ride seat), and $250 for the '35 with '38 motor (loose, on 38" cutoffs, cracked block, new manifold, pto extension, comfort seat).. Both tractors had decent front tires, but both rears were shot. I consider myself pretty lucky on those deals. Hope to have the '38 running by the end of July. I say save it.

What is different about a Fairway? Does it have different transmission speeds? Different steering wheel? What is different on a Fairway?

The main thing that "made" a Fairway a Fairway was the wheels. Wide fronts and rears. Instead of cleats, they had small knobs. I'll do a wee bit of research and get what other things may be different.

Here is a picture:

Also, without the wheels, a Fairway tractor really isn't that special......unless you can find the right wheels for it. It might be interesting to have the serial number tag with the fairway designation, but that's about it.

Not to drag the issue on and on, but this picture looks a lot like a regular. Were there "Regular Fairways?"

There were Farmall Fairways (regulars),F20 fairways and W series Fairways. Here is a Fairway 12 from Farmall Land USA It probably should be wearing a set of diamond tread rear tires but since I've only ever seen 2 of them I'll give Jerry a pass on that.
