IH 584 Diesel - Different Questions

We just got us an IH 584 Diesel to fix up and I have a few questions.

It has a 15 inch tire on the front and Tractor Data website shows that it should have 16 inch tires.

I need to buy some new wheel studs for one hub as someone installed some studs but tack welded them and they just popped right off. Would any of you happen to know the correct size?

Also, how involved would it be to remove the cab? I see bolts at the front and under the fenders but didn't know if there would be anything else to expect to remove or loosen. What all would I lose or have to replace for a standard open tractor conversion?

i used to work at IH dealer years ago and I remember taking wheel off at bearing when studs were turning ,the cab frame can be removed but there are wires to disconnect and heater pipes to blank off but there is one thing to remember and that is the cab is there to protect the driver if the tractor overturns

Shouldn't the front wheels have lug BOLTS, not studs?

The studs are probably there because someone stripped the hubs at some point in the tractor's past. If you want to go with studs you should get some generic studs that press in from the back of the hub and use those, or else replace the hubs.

Maybe it should have 16" tires on the front, but really as long as the tires are round and black, it doesn't matter. New rims would cost money.

Not sure if it should have knurled studs or bolts. One side had studs that fit and we knocked them out. The other side had a jack leg stud tacked in there. We also have an IH 364 Diesel that has the same exact rim according to parts manual. Got those off and going to use them just to be sure we have correct rims. That tractor used bolts to hold them on.

The IH 584 runs really nice!! Ended up driving it down closer to the shop to remove the front wheels and everything seems to work well!

on all the IH range that I saw from June 1976 to July 1980 when I worked at local IH dealer in Mid Wales UK and I suppose after that date the front wheels were held on by nuts and studs .. I have an Allis Chalmers B which I have been informed is an early model and the wheels are held on by rivets

Hi, the front hubs on a 584 are a common rim found on other equipment like a running gear, plunger side of an IH old style square baler, etc. Originally in North America the rims would have been 16 inch with studs.
Re cab, from your pictures the cab would appear that it is an IH European factory cab. In North America some farmers fitted after market cabs without many modifications required.

15" implement rims fit, likely got swapped at some point.

That is a Euro spec tractor, you'll need the open station fenders etc if you remove it.

I was thinking I would need to locate some regular fenders in a junk yard and maybe the step, but after looking at it the fenders might be separate. We shall see
