400 camshaft key way failure

I brought a Farmall 400 last fall since it had an aftermarket 3pt hitch. Tinkered away on things over the winter. Got a land grader to do the driveway. Hooked up, went out graded. It worked great, but noticed that oil was coming out the dipstick. Drove into the shop, removed the dist & hyd pump. Removed the gear from the pump, found the hyd pump shaft & gear worn out. Somebody had pump shim stock to take up the slop. Had read about cam gear being loose, of coarse this one is. Stripped down front of the engine to found the nut finger tight, missing couple teeth on the cam gear. Key way worn right out in the gear & the camshaft. Have a parts SW6, stole the cam, gear, lifters out of it. Ordered seals, gaskets from local caseIH dealer. I thought had brought every book about the 264/281 from Binder books. All the manuals I have don't list this info. I'm looking for torque specs of crankshaft pulley nut(2.5" nut), camshaft gear nut, hyd pump nut, idler gear bolt. Thanks

I had similar problems on a 340U where basically the front gear drive trashed itself due to one gear getting loose on its shaft. It wasn't a "grenade" failure but the wobbling gear wore out the one next to it in a very bad pattern and so on.

I put it back together with red loctite on the bolts that rotate. As I recall there were also some thin washers which were larger than the hex on the bolt but designed to be bent upwards on one or more faces of the hex, after the bolt was thoroughly tightened.

However I don't think I'd use the red loctite on a 2-1/2" bolt. That would require the blue wrench to get hot if you ever wanted to remove it.

So nobody has ever torqued these nuts? I'm not interested in impact torqueing, thanks thou. Finally got all the parts rounded up to put engine back together. I looked for torque charts, but for 1" & 1 3/4" the charts are not going to be right for cam & crank gears.
