New rings question

I just put new rings in my Farmall 100. Got the head off being worked on so figured I'd do the rings whether it needed them or not. Tractor is new to me so I don't know what has been done in the past. Still have the head off. I can turn the engine with the crank but it turns hard as I would expect with new rings. Should I do anything for lubrication while I got it apart to make it turn easier or is it just a matter of getting it broke in once I get it running. This whole thing started with low compression. Hope to have the head back this week and have it running for the first time this weekend.

There should be resistance to cranking with new rings, failure to clean the ring grooves out real well can make this worse.

Yon should have lubed the cylinder when you put the pistons in. Did you cut the ridge out of the cylinder? Rings and ring land can break because the ridge wears kinda round, and the new rings are square. You need to use assembly lube on the rod and main bearings too.

it wont be that much harder turning ... unless u have other problems like the crank brgs. being too tight.
and depends what u mean by hard turning???

Just put some oil in the cycls so the pistons are well lubed when turning the engine over as you put it back together wont hrt a thing maybe just smoke some when first starting.
