New as in what say a 2017 one?? If that is what your asking then maybe but the pulley would be all wrong and it may need to be wired oddly compared to say the Delco 10SI which is a common alternator. Me I would just stick to the common 10SI like what was used on say a 1980 Chev pickup truck and cost around $50 plus a $10 core

That is the "GM one wire alternator" that autozone sells. It is self-exciting and sometimes you have to rev the engine a little to get it to start charging.

Will I need to change the coil to 12 volt

The 3 wire is a better choice and costs is about half what a 1 wire is. I use alternators made for the 1980 Chev pickup truck no power any thing no A/C. As for the coil a simple ballast resister liek the VR-1 or VR-2 from an O'Reilly's auto parts store works just fine
