Behlen power steering question

I found a great buy on a Char-lyn power steering unit. My 400 has a factory PS unit with the Behlen motor. Factory PS has the usual priority valve problem. Could I simply use the Char-lyn pump to power the Behlen unit and avoid all the steering shaft switch out issues?

I think that would work. I installed a sort of frankenstein live hydraulics/power steering set-up on my M. It consists of a Vickers style, belt driven hydraulic pump, and a Charlynn power steering motor. I would think the Charlynn power steering pump should operate the Behlen steering motor just fine.

it will work. I put a saganaw power steering pump on my jd A with a wide front and it now steers with one finger. sow any good pump will work. Bob

I have mounted GM p.up ps pumps on M Farmalls. Fits under hood and cant see them if you dont know they are there.

Thanks for the replies. I figured it would work but thought I would get some feedback before tearing into my 400. It's my working tractor for my play farm and don't want it out of commission by opening a can of worms.
