SuperC starter

Got the new starter painted and installed this weekend. It is a little longer than the old one, so I had to unhook the hose going to the fast hitch valve so it would clear. After it is in, the hose hooks right back up. I left it on 12 volts. I know Gene is fully against running 12 volts. I already had the alternator left over from racing. Also, the wiring had to all be replaced as it was all original. There is not a big selection of 6 volt batteries in this town. The 12 volt that will fit in my battery box, has to have the hold down feet on each end ground off to fit the battery box I have. That also let me get rid of the generator and regulator. That leaves one wire to run from the alternator, thru the ammeter and to the post on the starter to charge the battery. The starter, switch and freight come to right at $135.00. I guess we will see how long it lasts.

i dont care if you go to 12v my point is if the starter and gen are up to shuf they work fine and they should be checked out first before all the changing to 12v. Seems to be lots of problems with the new starters. The 6v ones arent usually that hard to refresh but i can do my own work and know how to make new wiring harnesses using the nylon covers shrink tubing ect. First i have heard about the new one being too long.
