Need help identifying IH engine and fixing cooling issues.

I have an old Pettibone Extendo 88 all terrain forklift, it has an IH UB-240 engine in it.

I need to know where to get parts, so far, searching online has been fruitless. Is this engine the same engine that would be in any trucks/tractors?

Here are some more pics of the engine to help with identification:

First off, it needs a new or re-cored radiator. I'm wondering where I can go online to get pricing for a new one before I go get the one I have quoted for re-coring.

Here's a couple pics of the RAD:

There is actually a tube soldered thru the bottom tank for the driveshaft connecting the main HYD pump to the driveshaft.

Does this radiator look familiar to anyone, or is it a special application unit?

Also, I tried to remove the water pump, and one of the bolts felt like it was going to break, here is a pic showing the stuck bolt, is this a common problem, anyone have a good solution?

Last thing I want to do is break a bolt off in the block. however, I want to get the pump off because it will make installing the new radiator a lot easier, plus I want to rebuild this pump.

For the purposes of ordering parts, is this just a Silver Diamond 240?

You should have a model designation right on that flat by the distributor or on the other side on a flat in front corner of block. It looks to have the full flow oil filter on it and I don't thing the Silver Diamond engine had them as I did install a update package on a Black Diamond once upon a time converting it to full flow.
That one was a BD 264 in a A 160 truck, memory serves. By the way, it was a yellow truck and the color fit perfectly. Lot of experience came from working on that one first two years on the job at IH dealer.

For some reason the "edit" feature has been disabled for about a year or more by the forum host.
The fix must not be cost effective. This forum also does not accept pasted links to web photos. I
have seen a few guys do it but it takes some hoop jumping. It is best to use the posting form box
like you did for links. Sorry I don't know much about that engine in your Pettibone.

I will look for the pad.

After some research I see the SD engines were only produced up to 1956, this forklift was manufactured in 1971, so I assume that's when the engine was made.

I'd like to find out what truck engine this is because whenever I mention UB-240, I get no answers because no one is familiar with the UB units.

Forum edit feature is permanently disabled due to the "Classic View" side of the system. Posts from Classic View are transferred to Modern View and vice versa. That's technically challenging enough. Trying to propagate any edits... My guess is they didn't even want to try.

The reason your photos did not post is because you only posted the name of the photo, not the full URL to the photo.

Go to your photo hosting site, display the photo you want to include. Right click on the photo and select "copy image location." Then paste (ctrl-V, or right-click and select "paste") the image URL in between the "img" tags.

BTW, I know of no online radiator repair that would give you a quote. If you have a reputable local radiator shop, give them your business even if it does seem expensive. Those places need to be encouraged to keep their doors open or soon we won't have any place to take radiators for repair.

Yeah, I noticed I did the photo links incorrectly but could not edit to fix.

I'm looking online for a new radiator, not online for re-coring. Just want to compare new to locally re-cored.

no expert on these but ihc is hard to figure out for sure. the tractor engines used a sleeved engine and the trucks were not sleeved however a truck block could be bored to take sleeves and used as a replacement in a tractor. truck engines were identified as bd220 bd240 and bd264 as a family group. tractor engines I'm familiar with were identified as c-221 and c-263. 303 and 403 combines use a variation of the unsleeved truck engine. i'd guess that the ub series used a variation of these engines. ihc used many variations of heads manifolds updraft and downdraft carbuterers governors ect. on basic engines for specific applications. you might want to look at combine radiators for your use as some used a rotating tan screen or hydraulic pump driven off front of engine. Chime in knowledgeable ones. leroy
