Trip Home From Des Moines

Dropped two tractors of at the RPRU, in Des Moines, today. Left my trailer there, too. Went back up I35, toward home, and the near new right front tire, on my Chevy ton truck blew up, north of Story City. Probably ran over something, in the road. Really came apart. Was quite warm, out on the shoulder, while I figured out the jack, and put the spare on. Took about 45 minutes. Spare made it about 40 miles, and it disintegrated, too. It was probably just too old. Rode the rest of the way home on the back of a roll back truck. Could have pulled a rear dual, and used it on the front, but didn't want to add heat stoke, to my day. Already had two chances to roll it, within forty miles. Having spent over two hours on the shoulder of the road, a state trooper (or anybody else) with a cold bottle of water would have been a welcomed sight, but none to be found. Didn't feel real safe, with vehicles going by at the speed of light, a short distance away. Be careful out there!

That's why I stopped going out on I35 and I80 repairing semi, truck, and car tires. Interstate could be clear for miles, no one in the outside lane and some clown doing 80 would run over the air hose 2' away from you.
