Super m outer Axle bearing.

Is it necessary to remove the axle housing or can bearing be changed without removing it.

Remove the cast wheel, rim & tire from the axle bar, then remove the four capscrews on the axle carrier end
cap with the zerk, pry the end cap off and the bearing is right there. You will have to get creative to
get the bearing out. Probably a good time to replace the outer axle seal, felt, and end cap gasket while
you're there.

A bobcat with a set of pallet forks works pretty good to remove the tire, and center, after you slide it off.

Getting creative involves a torch. Before my time axle brg replacement was common out in the field w/snow, cold and mounted picker.

So you CAN replace the outer axle bearing without pulling the axle?

I was told that the only way was to drop the bull gear off, and remove the axle from the tractor.

You can remove outer bearing, like the man says, if you get creative, like welding something onto the bearing to attach a slide hammer. Isn't worth the trouble as far as I am concerned. I go through pto, remove cap screw from bull gear and pull axle housing off and then work on it. You get a chance to check inside bearing, gasket and clean up the housing.
