Fill plug seized up,super A

Have a 1951 super A. Runs good and all and have been changing fluids. Last item is draining the hyd. res. and removing the screen. But the fill plug is a square 9/16 head steel plug. Its seized up and not moving. Ive tried every tool I can think of and am messing it up. Ive heard of a tool for them but not sure it would go on it. Its directly under left side of gas tank so I cant heat it safely without removing it. Any ideas? Which would help more heat or cold? Thought about freezing with freon. Then won't have to deal with gas. Ive seen normal drain type plugs on other ones and will get a new plug to replace.

Yes it is. I did later on after it was bogeyed up some. i may try again. Im just glad I didn't just drain it first.

Last square headed plug I put the 8point onto and a long lever arm sheared the square right off. This was unexpected. Thankfully I was transferring it from a cracked intake to a good intake casting (GM V6 marine engine) and I just installed a new plug.

I'd also steel-wire-brush around the threads and then use a penetrant like PB Blaster or Kroil every day for a week or two before you even try again. That will help get thru the surface corrosion but the tapered thread may be what's actually holding it.

If all else fails you are pretty much down to the blue wrench.

He needs a 4 not 8 point socket. If it is already boogered up, weld a nut to it & use an impact wrench at low power back & forth.

Heat then pour ATF on while hot let cool some then heat again. Do that a couple of times then try to remove it. Have yet not to work for me but there is always a first time

Thanks! Will try ideas. Plus clean to bare metal with wire brush. I thought about welding but I dont know about welding cast iron. Looks like heating would be best.

I have been using this for the odd special thing that i really need to get without twisting it off. i will tell you from 17 years of industrial maintenance that it works great where all others have failed. it is expensive and i only use it for critical stuff.
