Farmall 300/H engine swap help

Looking to know if the timing plate off a 300 farmall is the same as an H. I'm using a 300 block in an h and didn't know if I have to take the whole h engine apart to use that plate or if the 300 one will work. My only reason is because obviously the 300 has the hydraulic pump bolted to the timing case.

I believe they will interchange. The very early H had rubber front engine moounts and that will not interchange. Jim

The 300 will work, if you are using the 300 carb the hose to connect breather is to small on H, used a SH air breather and pipe or just adapt the H pipe. On 300 the vent to air cleaner comes off the valve cover instead of back of head. Fan for 300 is to big in diameter and will need H fan. Oil pressure line is bigger on H so need to swap fittings on block and is easier to do before installing side rails. I think the pulley that drives the generator is bigger on 300 than H and might need a different generator belt.
Think I used a 300 flywheel for the bigger clutch, SH also has the bigger clutch if my memory is serves me right but H clutch and flywheel will work on 300 to.

To use the F-300 front cover you need the ignition drive housing from a later H starting sometime in 1950 on up or a SH one. Need to put the H governor throttle lever and shaft in the 300 governor. Where the vent line to air cleaner intake on the H is run a PVC hose from 300 valve cover to air cleaner intake pipe. Rework choke rod if using 300 carburetor. sometimes the head studs are to short on a 300 to mount throttle linkage. Have got around that by putting extra tall nuts on the two studs and enlarging the throttle bracket holes to pass over the nuts. Use short bolts and washers to retain bracket. Like said you may need to resize on the charging unit belt. If you use the H coolant pump the H crankshaft pulley also needs installed for belt to fit. If using a 300 flywheel and a SH clutch plate the original 300 starter gear placement is different and would need modification to mesh correct with starter.
Someone already mentioned air inlet to carb and oil pressure line.

yes H serial number 344864 and higher housing # 354948R1 fits a 300 ignition drive opening that a hydraulic pump does. Dave mentioned the fan diameter, I had forgot that.
