Cub rear main seal.

Hello, while I am replacing the clutch in my 1972 Cub. I will need to replace the rear main seal. Leaks when the engine is at running temp. How much of a pain in the neck is this? and can you perchase it with out buying a bunch of other gaskets that I don't need? I am looking at the reman kits from Stieners......Thanks Kenny.

you will need a gasket between the retainer and the block. You can make it or I suppose even use RTV. The oil pan is bolted into the bottom of the retainer, so you will need an oil pan gasket, too. I
suppose Steiner has the updated retainer, but check to make sure. No commonly available seal correctly fits the old style retainer. There are a couple guys around the country that machine old retainers for
new seals. They hang out on farmallcub dot com.

You can get just the gaskets, I think I got mine from TM. The current seal will not fit right, as mention by hoof, but I just epoxied mine in and its been fine.
