PTO...Fix or Replace?

The nut on the PTO shaft of this 1955 International 100 has been welded to the shaft. Also, the previous owner welded the PTO engagement gear to the shaft preventing me from disengaging the drive. See the picture. I was thinking of removing the PTO altogether and replacing it with a transmission plate if not too costly. Also, would you grind off the welds to restore the PTO or replace the welded components?

I have the needed parts if you want to fix it. Finding a delete plate will be tough, and I would much rather have the PTO available for use. Makes tractor worth more too

I'm reassembling the PTO after rebuilding the transmission on this 1955 Farmall. The shaft fits into the spline gear but the teeth don't engage allowing it to rotate freely. It would appear the teeth are either worn away, or the gear on the PTO shaft is not the correct one. It's apparent someone has done some welding on the PTO shaft. To make matters even more confusing, the parts manual shows a tube assembly that I don't have. Not ever having seen the inside of a PTO I'm at a loss. I've included a video
watch

There is a sleeve over the shaft that should slide and engage to the top shaft of the trans. The small splines are what drive the sliding piece that's welded from the factory to the sleeve that allows that to shift in and out of gear. Maybe it been sitting so long in that position it won't move anymore, but from the pictures and video, it's there.

If you don't want a PTO shouldn't be an issues to have a flat plate made up and drilled to block off the trans or if you want a PTO it shouldn't be hard to find a good used PTO, lots of super A's get parted out all the time.

I'll put the shaft in metal rescue which I have not done. That should dissolve the rust if that is what's preventing it from moving. Many thanks!
