Identifying metal in Hytran Oil

This is a long shot, but I was replacing the o'ring seals for the lower control arms on a 706 Farmall. While cleaning out the last little bit of oil left in the rear of the tractor, I found what looked like the remains of a split ring retainer and two small pieces of copper. The ring looks/ looked to be about 1.25" ID and the copper pieces are each about the size of a grain of wheat. The PTO works ok, as near as I can tell; I don't use it anymore than two or three times a year, so it may not have gotten bad enough to show signs of failure yet. Any Ideas? This is the first I have tried to make anything other than cosmetic repairs to a farm tractor.

Thanks!

The copper /brass could be from when it was put together of a bushing. If no shafts seem loose I would not worry about it. For the snap ring piece that could be more serious. I would suspect that it is from when somebody worked on it in the past and didn't find the old piece. If non of the gears or shafts appear to be loose or slppoy I would not worry about it either for now.
