hey jim, you being a fella in the know around shop tools, can ya take a peek up in tool talk at my radial arm saw post. it had the oddest saw blades i ever seen. some close to an inch thich, and the teeth had varous cut patters, ie bevels, some kind of double slots ect. i cant imagine chucking one of those massive blades in the saw and trying to feed a board thru. i almost bought it, but want sure what it was for!!!!
 
That sounds like a molding head. They work pretty good on a radial arm saw. Make tongue & groove lumber or edge molding etc.
