Will those bolts have

Trying to get that coupler apart in the belly of the M, will those bolts have groves wore into them, or why are they coming apart so tough, the head of the bolts are very shallow, hard to keep a socket on them.

I'm not familiar with the bolts you speak of, but to me that almost sounds more like some sort of adjusting bolt or something. Maybe should take a break till someone else chimes in.

No they got rubber washers 8 used, so i got to figure out how to work around them, because their tight on the bolt, i mean very tight,or else their is a grove in the bolt's, so there's no just sliding the bolt out.

Do the sockets taper a tad? If i chop the end of the 6 point socket off, that will give me a tighter fit on the head of that tapered bolt, wont it?

Roger is right, they are tapered bolts. Need to loosen the nuts, I've taken the nuts off and remove the lock washer and turn the nuts back on, just about flush with the end of the bolt. Then support the center piece with a bar or what ever works, and give the nut a good whack with a hammer. They'll pop loose. Good luck, Bob

I have had to grind the end of a socket down a little bit before to get good square shoulders for a thin bolt head. Most sockets seem to be rounded on the end and don't do well on thin bolt heads.

If everything is right you should not be trying to turn the big end. Do as others have said.

After my last post I remembered you can't swing a hammer in that tight space on the front bolts . With a wrecking bar just usually pry back against those nuts. With your capscrew not in, the whole clutch shaft , yoke assembly will move back a bit before it bottoms against the fly wheel, then , with a good pull on the bar should break the taper fit loose. The only reason you would have a problem holding the heads of those tapered bolts is if the bolt is turning in the yoke. Other wise, take the nut off, apply some pressure with a pry bar to end of bolt and tap the yoke with a hammer. Pretty simple.
