Sometimes the bear gets you.

So..... I bought this decent non running 330 utility that looks pretty nice and was reasonable. The distributor was apart and the exhaust manifold was broke at the top but still has a lot of thread. I decided to rob from my super c and put the distributor back together. Wow. It has spark. Checked oil and put some gas in it. Cranked and fired and ran. Double wow. No smoke no noises. Runs smooth. Awesome. Everything seems to work. Check the ta. No change in speed so I looked on the archives and it said if it doesn't stop and no change TA is out of adjustment. Followed instructions and adjust. Ta now works great. Triple wow. This is awesome.
So then I pick up a stub for the exhaust manifold and like an idiot set it on the manifold while backing it out of the shed. You see where this is going. I pull it out and am sitting there admiring all my efforts when in slow motion the stub falls forward hit a fan blade goes around through the radiator after breaking the water pump casting. My gaaad I am stupid. With it shut down I am standing there looking at what is now a broke down tractor with antifreeze leaking all over. Man I am stupid. Just when I think I am a genius I have to get knocked down a peg.
My favorite quote from my dad is "if this is the worst thing that happens to you you will live a good life" but I do feel like I failed that tractor. Dang. He also said stupid should hurt too.

Moving on. Can anyone tell me what radiator is the same as that 330? I am sure I can look it up but just going to take a break from it for a while.

Deep breath

Halftrack -- Can't help you with the radiator question, but thanks for the story. Nice to know I'm not the only one that does stupid things sometimes!

One time I ran into our pickup with the JD 4010 with loader. ....But you never heard me say that!!

Everybody falls a little short now and then. Last winter i needed to rebuild the fuel pump on my loader tractor, it had been leaking for so long the shed floor was saturated with fuel. I got a kit and did it myself, wouldn't start, burned up the starter.
Took it in to the shop and 900 bucks later it was perfect. Lost the cost of the rebuild kit and some frustration, fortunate for me the starter was warantied by some very kind fellers where i went to get a rebuild, i didn't even ask for warranty but they pitied me.
