350 rear axle oil leak

The left side rear axle has started to dribble oil whenever that side is on the downhill side. Is AT205 (the ATP Re-Seal product) likely to help at all, or should I just buckle down and change the oil seal? I don't see any signs that the bearing might be going bad; I jacked that side off the ground and with the shifter in neutral and brake off I can easily spin the wheel and it keeps spinning a while with no binding.

I've never heard of your stop leak stuff. I really doubt it would stop a rear axle seal from leaking. Not sure when IH started using Chicago Rawhide rubber lip seals, but I suspect your 350 has Chicago Rawhide LEATHER lip seals.

If your 350 is a Farmall row crop, carefully slide the wheel off the axle bar, remove the 4 capscrews holding the end cap with the grease zerk on from the axle carrier, the seal is in that end cap. Clean it up good, install the new seal, new felt, and new gasket between the end cap and axle carrier. Install the end cap, I grease the axle up good, file any burrs off, install the 4 cap screws, slide the wheel/tire back on.

If your 350 is an International 350 Utility, somebody else will have to tell you how the wheel hub is removed.

Eight years ago or so I resealed the axles on my 300 farmall.when I got it apart there was a groove in the axle where the seal lip rides. I cleaned and roughed it up and used jb weld to fill the groove. I sanded it smooth and put it back together. It still gets wet on the bottom side of the axle if sitting unlevel for any long period. Mine is not a show tractor or painted up nice. It gets used and I can live with the little seepage it has.

I got a neighbor, friend, he would take it apart, and tighten's the spring in the seal, well i don't have the patience for that, but he's got more money than i do,maybe that why LOL!

Thanks. It is a Farmall that has been in the family since 1960. To my knowledge the oil seals have never been replaced, so if original equipment was a leather seal, it is 99 44/100% likely its the original. ATP Re-Seal does not bind to leather as far as I know.
