Good evening everyone. Hope all is well.
So as it says I have a 49 Farmall cub. I got a new Governor for it and had help to put it in. When putting it in there were 2 dots on the teeth of the flywheel or gear teeth whatever its called. And 1 dot on the gears of the governor. The one dot was put in-between the 2 dots. Govenor was then installed.
Now after watching some videos and such i found i was suppose to find top dead center on first cylinder on the compression stroke. Lined up the little needle indicator on the notch on the pulley. From what i understand this is suppose to bring the governor notches to 2 and 8. Mine are at 10 and 4. Any idea how or what to do to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

Yup to what Gene said, 1 dot on governor to 1 dot on idler gear. 2 dots on idler gear to 2 dots on crankshaft gear. Don't worry about the TDC and marks on crankshaft pulley and pointer until you have that done.

So is there a spot on the gear inside the motor that only has on dot cause there was 2 different teeth that had a dot. do I keep turning it over until I find the tooth with just one dot

I have turned this thing over a hundred
times and can't find a single dot on the
other side or anywhere.

(quoted from post at 19:53:08 05/15/17) The single dot is on the side of the idler gear next to the block.
ith the idler gear mounted you may have to remove the seal. Just lining up the single dot will not help though if you do not have the double dots lined up. at the crankshaft gear. If you do not have the timing cover off or do not want to pull the timing cover back off a work around is to set the engine at TDC #1, then install the governor so the drive lugs are in this position. Note, they will look like this when any cylinder is at TDC, but since you will need #1 TDC to time the mag, might as well use that to do the governor.
