What is this.

Hey guys. Was looking at this tractor for some parts. The owner calling it Super M and so does sticker. But I don't see hydraulics under gas tank.

Is this M or Super M?

Looks like both, need to look closer to see what's what. Looks like a stage 2 SM center housing, stage 2 SM frame rails and can't be sure but looks like the bigger diameter upper pipe end to air cleaner. Think if the pipe came on a M it would be late enough to have disc brakes. Front wheel pictured is for a real late M, SM through 450. Carburetor choke lever is on a M side. M&W hydraulic pump on the tractor. Battery box and shift lever is added or a M rear end put under the parts. Would check to see if engine is a SM. If so maybe mostly a M rear put on a SM chassis with a few other things.

It looks just like mine, a Stage 2 Super M that was ordered with a belly pump--then some time later someone wanted live hydraulics so they put a live pump on it and used the belly pump area for reservoir.

I did notice the brakes and was thinking that was a regular M. It has some plumbing in the belly so I was thinking pump at distributor was added later.
All indications of a M.

Just curious. He says it's a Super because it has 3 bolt starter. Is there a 2 or 3 bolt.

Thanks.

Yes 3 bolt starter after a serial break, that's why I said stage 2 center housing. Also has extra bosses on center housing above left hydraulic outlet holes. When drilled and threaded were used for battery box mounting on a SW-6 with frame rails. Doesn't have the starter setup for a stage 2 SM. It had a pull rod operation from the bracket bolted to rear fuel tank support. Bracket is only used on stage 2 SM that came without a engine driven liftall system and was also used for choke rod and belt pulley gear box operating rod if equipped. Stage 2 amp gauge box should have the ignition switch in cover.

Could it be a M that had the engine rebuilt with Super M sleeves & Pistons? Thus, some may consider it a "Super Powered" M.

Donald. That has become my conclusion also. Seems right on target. I believe I'll just leave it alone.

Thanks.

Well, I may be a brand-new Farmall owner but as an experienced mechanic it almost looks like the tractor is sporting old replacement tin with new decals. In the end, I guess as long as it runs and you enjoy the machine it is a win for everybody!
