Looking for a few pics from you guys on the front grill of my 1944 Farmall H. I have it sanded and painted; took off the "farmall" metal piece on top and want to see how it is painted. The bottom of my Grill has a whole - like 3 x 14" across the bottom- is that normal or is there a piece missing? Also, how decals go on this tractor. Thanks for your help! My extentions turned out good! Thanks!

I just painted my Farmall emblem, it should look like this. I used a small brush to paint the black.

There is a 3 x 14 insert that goes into the hole, that is commonly removed and set on a shelf in the barn. Then forgotten. I think you can find them on ebay. They're not free. They look just like the rest of the grill. They were removed to put in a brace for a cultivator attachment, that would rotate with the front wheels as you turned in the field and cultivated.

Actually, very few of those inserts were ever removed and set on a shelf. Most of the missing inserts vibrated loose, fell out, and were run over and destroyed. The driver didn't even know it had happened until he got back to the house at the end of the day.

Both my M and my H are missing the grill section and both of them had the cultivator attachment on them when I purchased them. I remember my grandpa telling me with I was younger that most of the H's and M's delivered around home were missing that section upon delivery because the dealer had already installed the cultivator attachment and many were delivered with the cultivators already installed.

This is great to know! Im learning here; so as the first guy says - the top one is black with white letters? I will try to find the bottom piece. Thanks guys!
