Super A vs Farmall 100

Any noticeable differences in the 2 tractors beside the sheet metal. I just got a Farmall 100 and sometimes looking at parts they list Super A but not a Farmall 100.

The engine is larger. Has a water pump instead of thermosyphon cooling. I think radiator is taller, but not sure about that.

The Super A did NOT come with a water pump.

The Super A1 had a water pump. In fact, the Super A1 was essentially a 100 except for the sheet metal.

There is always some confusion.

From 1948-1954, IH made the model Super A, which was an upgraded version of the A with hydraulics. It had a C113 engine.

In 1954 (maybe late 1953?), IH came out with the upgraded Super A-1 (numeral ONE, not to be confused with capital I, which indicates the Industrial model). It had the C123 engine, a water pump, a 2" taller radiator. You can tell these by the 2" gap between the gas tank and the hydraulic block.

The Super A-1 is somewhat rare.

In late 1954, IH introduced the 100, which was basically unchanged from the Super A-1, except for the hood and grille.

I've got a late 1953 Super A that has the original C123 but not the water pump, it seems the transition periods from one model to the next are full of IH using up old stock and slowly upgrading parts to the next model, so there are odd combinations at those breaks.

Once the Super C came out with the 123 engine, they started using the C-123 engine block in the Super A. It had thicker sleeves and was thus still 113 ci. The 123 sleeve/piston set was a direct drop in and was put into many Super A tractors.
