S-A belt pulley drive

Sup A with a cover over where belt pulley mounts. I am going to put a Woods mower on and tractor has only the pto. ??Does the shaft out of trans have the bevel gear on it or do I have to get that gear and shaft from a donor tractor?

The belt pulley drive uses a bevel gear on the PTO drive shaft. It goes in place of a spacer that is presently on yours. When you install the attachment, you also need to use shims between the PTO housing and the belt pulley housing to set the gear mesh. This is illustrated in the parts catalog. It is probably easier to get the entire PTO and belt pulley assembly from the donor tractor if it is available and not much more expensive than just the pulley attachment.

Be aware that the Farmall A used early and late versions of the PTO and pulley. The pulley from an early will not mix with the late PTO. The late style will mix with a Super A PTO.

Every mower i have seen on a Super A or other such tractors used a pulley that fits on the PTO shaft not the belt pulley. That said I probably have what your looking for since I have a complete PTO unit off of a B or A not sure which any more

You cant put the big pulley on the pto on the A They drive off the belt pulley a pulley on the pto is too big and it would not match the idler assy pluss it faces the wrong way must be thinking about another brand of mower cause thats the way the Woods mounts. Remove the plate and see if there is a beveled gear that would drive the belt pulley. I have the belt pulley assy if you want just pay shipping.

Thanks for the info. The tractor that the mower is off is a 42 A and I am putting it on a 52 SA. You saved me the trouble of taking belt/pto parts off it and finding that they will not work on the SA. Parts hunt time.
