I'm thinking about getting a cub- a regular 51 cub- with a loader. It's not the one-arm loader. Maybe it's a henderson-- pretty standard looking trip bucket. How useful is a cub with a loader? Obviously, it will only lift so much but I am thinking it might be handy to get into tight spots and for smaller jobs. Do you folks see it as just a toy or for show or it might have some utility?

I agree with Highwayman, it's better than not having a loader. I have always wanted a 1000 loader for my Super A, more for fun than practical use. The old tube toaders always looked funny to me mounted on a offset tractor.

Years ago I could have picked up a loader for a cub at an auction. Probably would have got it for $8 since the guy who bid got it for $7 and it took them a while to get him to bid that much. I have a friend who would have given me over 10 times that for it for his cub. I look at ti this way a loader is sure a heck of a lot better then a wheel barrow

I have had a cub with a Wagoner loader for several years, and it is handy, but has it's limitations. Not much good for digging, not enough power or weight, but great for loading out of piles such as gravel or piles of rotted hay and manure. Really handy for an old man with a bad back when he needs to move stuff around outside the shop. You definitely need the dedicated tractor, they are such a pain to install. Also be very careful, cubs are not very wide and with the bucket up all the way easy to tip over. I have 3 sets of wheel weights on mine to reduce the danger here in hill country.
