Farmall 300 Clutch

I'm wanting to replace the clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing in my 300. But I can't decide which clutch to buy. It seems like there are 2 or 3 different sizes and spline counts. So what size do I need? Am I gonna have to split it so I can find out? I've looked on IH website and there are no shaft measurements, so that doesn't help.

AFAIK, there are just 2 traction clutches, 10.5" Rockford or 10.5" IH. They interchange as a unit, and you're not going to know what's in there now 'til you can have a look.

If you are looking aftermarket and see another clutch diameter, likely it's the 7" clutch used in the TA (if so equipped).

Bob, I'm seeing something like a 10.5" clutch with a 1 1/8th shaft, and one with a 1 1/2" shaft, both 10 spline, then another with a 1 1/4" shaft and 16 spline. This is what is confusing me. Otherwise I think it's the Rockford clutch in this one (isn't that what the J after the serial # stands for?)

Thanks for the reply.

The difference would be if your tractor is equipped with independent pto and torque amplifier and I would think vendor would specify that.
