Original Cub Cadet Creeper drive

Hi All,
I bought an original cub cadet awhile back. It came with a mower and a snow blower. It appears it once had a creeper drive judging by the hole in the frame. One would obviously need one if you were ever going to use the snowblower. I'm assuming IH made one for it. It either broke or was sold during it's life. Can someone confirm there was one for it and what the likely hood is of finding one to put in it? Are they the same as the one used in a 70 or a 100? I'm thinking not since the drive lines are so different. Thanks!
John

pretty sure they had the hole for the creeper even if you didn't have the creeper, we had a 70 we bought new had the hole but the creeper was an option we didn't have.

Tom is correct. They come with the cut out so as to encourage you to buy one. Used good ones are in the $200.oo plus range. I found an excelent one from a guy for 125.oo cause he was retiring. You need to cut the drive shaft after you fit it to the front of your transmisson. Cruise ebay for one already cut. Not that expensive. It IS really not hard, just make sure you get all of the parts and also down load a PDF file on how to do it. One good afternoon should do it. Cuts your ground speed in 1 / 2. They be pretty slow ya know.

Your Original only has maybe a dozen common parts with a CC70, all internal transmission parts. Creeper for an original is totally different than the one for 70 & 100 and ALL the other gear drives except the couple IH put the cheap weak Peerless trans axle in.

You need a Danco UD-6 underdrive. Installation instructions and parts list available on IHCUBCADET.COM, MANUALS, OPTIONS, Original creeper drive.

Thanks Guys for the info. I will start my search. It's not a matter of life or death if I put one in it but would like to complete the overhaul with the creeper option since I have a blower for the old girl.

I put a 36 inch snow blower on a CC-72 with an 8 HP Kohler, a K-181. It had it's hands full with a full bite of 3-4 inch deep snow. A freshly rebuilt 10 HP, K-241 and I could toss a full width bite of 5-6 inch deep snow. A 10 HP doesn't fit well in an Original.

Good luck looking for your creeper. Many guys parting these tractors out. You might check with Cub Cadet Specialties, he has quite a stash of good used parts.
