Valueof a Farmall 100

I'm going to look at a Farmall 100 this week with missing radiator, banged up grill and engine is set up. Been under cover and rest of tractor looks good, tires good, etc. I know other models of tractors in this shape probably only go for scrap price but I also know the Super A's and higher models go for pretty good money (when in working shape) to the area vegetable farmers around. Do you think this tractor in the shape its in would be worth more than scrap?

The guys on this site are very helpful; but thought I would add my one cent worth; the value on this site is $2800 average condition. Might ask yourself how much it will take to get it up to "average condition." Also kinda depends if your looking for a project......good luck!

Tires are the biggest cost factor these days, but a good rad and grill are not cheap items for the 100. I am guessing you meant the engine is seized up rather than set up? If the rest is in decent shape I would pay around the 800.00 mark if I intended to keep it rather than fix and resell. They are solid tractors and easy to repair and maintain.

That is a hard one since you only have a guess as to why it was parked instead of being fix. To me it would be scrap or maybe $100 over but that is it. Who knows if it has a blown engine or other such thing or if it was parked due to the radiator being damaged. As for set up I am guessing you mean locked up which again was it parked due to it being locked up due to running it with a damage radiator.

Just my opinion, but $2,800 would have to be EXCELLENT condition. Average condition should fall closer to maybe $1,200 to $1,500.

Not running and parts missing would be $500 or less.

I'm just trying to get some idea what I might pay for it if I get it. I'd like to get it as a project tractor. I'm not worried about resale (will be someone else's problem after I'm gone).Don't want to over pay for it either.

I know the deal on these things - done some others and spent way more than they will ever be worth. I just like fixing them up and using them so I'd have it a long time. If money was the controlling factor probably none of us would ever fix up a tractor.

Actually, money IS the controlling factor if you are fixing up an older tractor to use versus buying a new one... ;) Of course others opinions may vary, but the only way I would fix up an old tractor and not use it regularly as a tractor would be if it was something like my "dream tractor", a Rumley OilPull...and even then...I'd still find "jobs" for it to do! I still use my F-20 for lots of things...
