Having issues with a belly mower. Tractor has manual lift. Seems backwards to us. Handle up ,mower down. Handle down (big spring slack) mower up. Also. PTO had sickle bar pulley welded on. Pressed it off. Did some grinding, and 8" pulley has 6 splines not 10. Uggggggggggghgh. I'm guessing it is wrong?!?

The cub has an odd ball PTO shaft on it and yes more splines then the normal PTO shaft. As for the lift many hand lifts are up for down and down for up so that way a guy can put his body behind the lift so it is not just arm strong lift but one can use the whole weight of ones body to do the lifting. The sickle bar mower on my BA is that way

you are not going to get that 8 inch pulley to work, unless you weld it on. looks like the bolts are welded onto the pulley. there are 4 bolt holes in the 8 inch. 2 tighten the hub on the pulley and the opposite 2, loosen the hub.

Yep and the pulleys that fit the cub can be a tad bit hard to come by. BTDT and will be working on a cub tomorrow

The goo around the bolts is foaming wd40. But only 2 bolts. So I'm goin' back to guy who sold it to me. I guess he gave me wrong pulley. We was loading up with a storm coming. Oh well. He had TONS of cub and A parts so he should have right one. Picture is part way down his driveway. Stuff everywhere. Sheds are packed too. Gonna get a disk plow for the cub from him. He asking 100 bucks. I think that's ok?

you use the 2 bolts and only 2 bolts at a time. in 2 of the holes, the bolts tighten and the other 2 holes they loosen.
$100 for a plow is a great price. ensure that the disc turns and look and see is it has a scraper on it. scraper to remove dirt from disc
you will also need 2 plates that attach to the rear drop axles. the plate is about 6 inches by 4 inches. it has a metal stud so the plow can float up and down.

Hey Old, the cub you working on , does it have a belly mower? If so can you see if we have brackets on back mounted right. Thanks

Yes it does have a belly mower. If I still had my old computer i would even be able to post the pictures of it but sadly I lost all that when my old computer crashed. I did a lot of work to this cub I will be messing with tomorrow including a full paint job

One thing I met to say is the PTO also spins backwards of the common PTO so that to can put problem into the mix if you happen to get a mower not made for the cub

(quoted from post at 19:20:37 04/18/17) . . . Seems backwards to us. Handle up ,mower down. Handle down (big spring slack) mower up. . . .
You are looking at the handle the wrong way. "Up" is when the spring is slack. It is there to counterbalance the weight of the implement. Lever forward is up.

New PTO shafts are readily available from several sources including YT.
New splined pulley hubs are available from https://www.motionindustries.com/productDetail.jsp?sku=00227023
Choose what ever pulley size you want also available from Motion Industries.
Splined Pulley Hub

That pulley has a "universal" hub.
You should measure the cubs PTO shaft diameter & get a "round"
center for the pulley from a supplier---Motion Ind. or many
farm stores sell them also.

The round center hub will tighten up on the splined shaft as you
tighten the 2 hub bolts.
