SA Bull Gear question

In the middle of restoring my 1947 SA, just found two chipped teeth on one of the bull gears, I have two extra bull gears but none of the part numbers match. does anyone know if the bull gears from A and early SAs are interchangeable?
Thanks

Honestly I have no idea, lay then on top/next to each other, count the teeth and splines where the axle goes in if you have one to compare. I brother might have one or two around from a parted out SA.

Go to the parts book and find the correct part number to start from. It may not have the original gear in it. The parts book may also give other applicable numbers.
Are the base numbers the same? Is the alpha suffix different? The alpha suffix generally means an update of the original.

no matches in my parts catalog with the pics i have with me, will check closer when in shop tomorrow. Thanks

checked out numbers and the closest one is, catalog # is (357 470 R53) and mine is (357 471 R1). the rest arn"t even close at 9902D and 499011. thoughts?

Those gears are an assembly of a ring riveted to a hub. The part numbers in the book are for the assembly. Numbers you read from the part may be for the individual piece (ring or hub). That probably explains the numbers that are close but not the same. Some of the later versions probably have induction hardened teeth while the earlier ones certainly don't. But they should all interchange. I would probably use whichever one shows the least wear on the teeth. Worn teeth are the usual source of gear noise.
