Disappointed with YT parts

I recently ordered a new sediment bowl and a new fuel line from this site. I ordered them both specifically because I wanted to be confident that both would fit together and both would fit my '47 M tractor. But it was not to be...

The sediment bowl screwed into the tank with no problems. The fuel line screwed into the carb with no problems, and it would screw into the old sediment bowl I was replacing. But the fuel line wouldn't screw into the sediment bowl. The fitting on the sediment bowl was too small with the wrong type of threads.

In searching another site, I found what appears to be the exact same sediment bowl.

Notice the adapter circled in red, which didn't come with the sediment bowl from YT. In reading through the info on this other site, I see this:

This fuel strainer or sediment bowl has 3/8" pipe inlet and 1/8" pipe outlet. [b:9793001793]It includes a 5/16" line compression adapter fitting." [/b:9793001793]

So now I've got to go find an adaptor.

Guess where I won't be buying my tractor parts from in the future? This kind of stuff ticks me off.

Rant over. Carry on.

I bet that you will be given that part if you let YT know they forgot that adapter They do care about
the satisfaction of their customers. Give it a try. Jim

After ordering several parts from here I have no complaints. I had a carb issue years ago and they helped me work
through it with advice.

I would say you as a disappointed customer are the exception, not the norm.
Contact them. They'll make it right.

If that is the biggest problem that you have, today, you are doing pretty good. Most any
good hardware store, or car parts place should be able to help you.

The fitting needed is not ordinarily found in a hardware store. What you find there is usually inverted flare, or compression fitting or pipe thread and the one needed is a straight thread and uses a ferrele.

If you would have looked at the pic you would have seen the problem. Most replacement sediment assy are like that. Bowl size and shut off arent the same either. Hard to find original ones.

I bought one from CaseIH for my Super H. High quality, looked and fit just like the original. About twice the cost of an aftermarket but worth it.

If you google 29899-D you will see the factory style nut used on the fuel line and therefore why ordinary hardware fittings do no work.

I did look at the pictures. Here they are. I'd love to know how anyone is supposed to know by these two pictures that the fuel line and sediment bowl (both advertised to fit an M) aren't compatible with each other.

Hope it doesnt leak, ive had terrible luck with China sediment bowls. I have never used one from YT though maybe they better than most.

I'm listening, and I appreciate everyone's input.

I assumed the parts division of YT would be closed over the weekend. I'll contact them today.

Thanks again.

The problem is that you might even get the right parts but it is up to the parts sales person you are talking to over the phone when ordering parts. I usually keep the person name than when ordering again I usually ask for them. I have many times that I have called in parts from places I have order from in past. I have found out it is not the parts but the people who take the order over the phone. I have a lot of spare parts that are new around my shop. I find out that when a tractor comes in I might need that part. I put it to use and sell the part to the friend for less money. Still save my self the restocking fee plus the shipping coast for sending it back to them for a refund.

I have ordered parts for Charlene here at YT several times in the past year, and called a cpl times to talk out the right part for her. The people I have dealt with were always happy to help, never in a rush to move me down the line, and seemed genuinely concerned.
I hope you called them and they got it right.
